S3’s 5th Annual ‘Managing Data Growth in Life Sciences’ Seminar was a roaring success with a new format and location it proved to be the most successful seminar yet.
This year’s decision to revamp the format saw vendor presentations move to informative and interactive panel sessions including an S3 host and a vendor speaker. The panel sessions focused around the big issues research centres are likely to face.
Panel one covered ‘Big Data’ – ‘What, why and when is data ‘Big’? hosted by S3’s Technical Director Mark Smith along with representatives from EMC Isilon, Quantum and Panasas.
Panel two hosted by S3 Account Manager Elliot Fonte discussed ‘Managing and ever shrinking backup window’ with CommVault, Quantum and Symantec.
S3 Account Manager Ian Nave ran the third panel covering ‘Can SSD accelerate ‘time to discovery’?’ Ian was joined by EMC Flash, Violin Memory and Tintri.
The final panel taken by S3 Technical Consultant Mark Treweeke along with Arkivum, SpectraLogic and Crossroads discussed the ‘Approaches to long term retention of research data’
With the addition of panels and the new location the day was a triumph and we’re already looking forward to next year!
