S3 Square Mile Seminars : Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, 7th July 2011
With spectacular views over the City of London, S3 held their 3rd in the series of Square Mile Seminars at Tower 42. This exclusive technology seminar demonstrated how S3 and its partners; VMware, EMC, Xsigo and Veeam, overcome complex storage and networking issues related to virtualised server and desktop environments.
The event was a great success and S3 showed how to develop the right data storage and networking strategy required to support I/O to hundreds or thousands of virtual desktops.
S3 explored different methodologies for delivering the performance and capacity required to support VDI at the right price point. These included using solid state disk and virtual I/O to boost performance for virtual machine images whist utilising lower-cost hard drives to store end user file data.
At a magnificent 600 feet, the event concluded with complimentary champagne in the world famous Vertigo Bar providing unrivalled panoramic views over London.

See below comments from some of the attendees on the day:
Very informative and good for ideas – thank you.
The flow of the presentations greatly increased overall understanding rather than having competing vendors showing similar solutions.
